Gadali's Schedtris scheduling agent finds success at ECH

Indigenous-led Gadali's Schedtris, an M365 Copilot agent, has halved morning rescheduling time at South Australian aged care provider ECH.

ECH (Enabling Confidence at Home), a South Australian home care and retirement living provider, has partnered with Indigenous-led technology company Gadali to roll out Schedtris, an AI-powered scheduling agent. Australian Ageing Agenda covered the results. The name combines "schedule" and "Tetris", a nod to how hard it is to make last-minute roster changes fit each client's care needs.

The results so far

Schedtris went live at ECH in March 2026. Since then, morning rescheduling time has fallen by 50 per cent and ECH has recovered about 15 hours of scheduling capacity each week. The rollout is now in phase two, with plans to link to the HR system and automatically call people whose schedules change because of a colleague's unplanned leave.

How it works

Schedtris is a Microsoft 365 Copilot agent. When someone takes unplanned leave and a shift becomes vacant, it identifies available staff, checks they have the right skills and gives each potential replacement a percentage-based suitability score. It also considers whether the worker has seen the client before and where their existing schedule sits, to avoid long return drives. The two organisations connected through their separate partnerships with Microsoft.

People first

Sharon Paulson, head of digital workplace services at ECH, said schedulers were involved from the start, with Gadali showing them developments each week. She described AI as "an augmentation to your staff", with "strict guardrails on humans in the loop", and advised other providers to start small.

Gadali founder Dustin McClung, a proud Ngunnawal man, called AI a "phenomenal tool that can help you do your job but it's not a replacement." Partnering with Indigenous-led technology companies is part of ECH's diversity strategy, and Ms Paulson said she values Gadali's goal of bringing more First Nations people into the tech industry.

Gadali first shared these results in its press release on AI scheduling in aged care.

No. ECH describes it as an augmentation to its staff, with strict guardrails that keep humans in the loop. Gadali uses AI to explore options, never as the final decision.
