Product launch events in immersive venues: getting the balance right
Immersive digital venues can make product launches memorable. Tips for Australian brands on balancing projection, physical detail and hospitality.

Immersive digital venues, where projection, sound and light wrap around guests, have become a popular choice for launches. They promise instant atmosphere and plenty of content. The challenge is making sure guests remember your product, not just the projections.
Event Marketer recently looked at how one fragrance brand approached this in Las Vegas. The tactics are a useful checklist for anyone planning a launch party or brand experience in a similar space.
What's happening
Event Marketer reports that Khadlaj, a Middle Eastern fragrance house, took over the Arte Museum in Las Vegas for the US debut of two scents, Muse and Island Sun. Each fragrance had its own world: one floral, with live flowers, a real piano and projected butterflies and roses; the other a tropical escape with lanterns, sound and scent.
The publication highlights three tactics:
- A transition moment. Ambassadors greeted guests with scented towels before a golden passage led into a mirrored room anchored by product displays. It set the tone and prompted creators to start filming.
- Playing with scale. More than 1,000 physical candles and 2,500 flowers added depth and balanced the audiovisual elements.
- A strong finale. The final room featured a palace-style scene with oversized bottles built into the visuals, extended by a physical oversized bottle installation.
Hospitality carried the story too. Guests enjoyed custom mocktails and halal food, live bottle engraving, roaming creators and curated gift bags.
What it means for brands launching products in Australia
Australia's major cities now have a number of immersive and digital art venues, alongside galleries and warehouses that can host large-scale projection. They are an appealing option for fragrance, beauty, fashion and lifestyle launches, and increasingly for technology product reveals.
The lesson from this example is balance. A venue full of projections can feel generic if every brand that books it gets a similar experience. What made the Khadlaj launch distinctive was the physical layer: real flowers, real candles, a real piano, a real oversized bottle. Those details make the space feel like the brand's own, and they photograph far better than projection alone.
The hospitality detail is also worth noting. Thoughtful food and drink choices that reflect the brand and its audience, along with personalisation such as engraving, extend the story and give guests a reason to stay. For consumer brands, that is often the difference between a brief visit and a memorable night.
The same structure works for B2B launches. A tech company unveiling a new platform can use an arrival moment, a guided story and a strong reveal to make the announcement feel significant, then use hospitality to open conversations with key clients.
How to put it to work
- Map the guest journey. Plan arrival, the core story and the finale before choosing content. Each stage should have a clear purpose.
- Brief the venue's digital team early. Make sure projected content is customised to your brand, not a lightly adjusted stock show.
- Invest in the physical layer. Budget for real props, florals, lighting and product displays that guests can see and touch.
- Design content moments. Identify two or three spots built for photos and video, and light them properly for creators and guests.
- Make hospitality part of the story. Match food, drinks and gifts to the product, and consider dietary and cultural needs of your guest list.
- Extend the moment. Personalisation, gift bags and follow-up content keep the launch alive after the night ends.

Are immersive venues good for product launches?
They can be, especially for launches that rely on mood and storytelling, such as fragrance, fashion or beauty. The risk is that the venue's projections overpower the product, so plan physical moments that put the product in guests' hands.
How do you structure a product launch event?
Think in three parts: an arrival that sets the tone, a journey through the product story, and a finale that leaves a lasting impression. Add hospitality and a take-home element so the experience continues after guests leave.
How do you make a launch event content-friendly for creators?
Design specific visual moments, such as an entry passage, a striking installation or an oversized product display, and give them good lighting. Creators will gravitate to them, which keeps filming organised and on-brand.
