Microsoft is putting CRM inside Teams, so partners should market the workflow
Microsoft's October business apps releases bring Dynamics 365 into Teams. Our view: partners win by marketing one workflow, not six new features.

Microsoft partners should market the new Dynamics 365 agents as a change to how sales and service teams spend their day, not as one more product to license. Buyers already work in Teams and Outlook, so a pitch that opens with a single workflow they recognise will land faster than a tour of every new feature.
That matters now because most of these releases are in preview, and the customers partners talk to over the next few months will be curious but careful.
What's happening
On 23 October 2026, Microsoft's Partner Center posted an update aimed at partners who build CRM, customer service and business process solutions. It bundles several releases.
Dynamics 365 customer details, insights and next steps now appear inside Microsoft Teams, so people can act on a customer record without leaving the chat they're in. That went into public preview on 8 October. Alongside it, a Sales Development Agent researches prospects, drafts tailored outreach, follows up and qualifies leads, and a Service Agent brings customer knowledge into Microsoft 365 apps. Microsoft also released reusable sales and service skills for Copilot, Cowork and custom agents, agent accounts in Copilot Studio (private preview from 15 October) and Contact Center Intelligence (public preview from 21 October).
Microsoft's stated goal for partners is to help customers move "from AI experimentation to measurable business outcomes".
Our view
Six releases in one announcement will blur together in a customer's inbox. The partners who get traction will pick one job, such as a rep preparing for a renewal call from a Teams chat instead of three open tabs, and show exactly what changes for that person.
There's a quieter shift too. Once CRM data sits inside Teams, it isn't only the sales team who see it. Delivery, finance and leadership start working with the same customer view, which widens the group that cares about the project. Partner marketing should speak to each of them, not just the head of sales.
We'd also argue against leading with the agents. An agent that writes outreach is easy to demo and easy to doubt. A workflow that gives a service lead the customer history before they pick up a case is easier to believe, and the agent becomes the how rather than the headline.
What it means for Microsoft partners and B2B tech firms
For partners who have sold Dynamics 365 as a place people go to, the story needs to change. The pitch is no longer "adopt the CRM". It's "keep working where you already work, and the customer context comes to you".
That's a better message for partners, because it removes the biggest objection buyers raise about any new system: one more screen to learn. It also gives smaller partners a way to stand out against bigger ones, since a clear story about one workflow beats a broad capability deck.
How to put it to work
- Choose one workflow per campaign. Sales call prep, case follow-up or lead qualification each make a cleaner story than the whole release.
- Show the before and after. A short video or carousel of the old steps next to the new ones does more than a feature list.
- Write for the wider buying group. Give delivery, finance and leadership their own reason to care, in their own language.
- Be upfront about preview status. Say what's in preview and what's generally available, and offer a pilot rather than a full rollout.
- Start with Microsoft's launch kit, then add proof. Use the launch resources Microsoft links from the announcement, and add your own pilot results as you get them.
